Playing in the mud is what I find most enjoyable.
John Hampton is a ceramic artist and sculptor. My work in clay is representative of my other sculptural work in various media. I continue to use themes from nature as a source of inspiration. I try to play on the similarities between man and animal. I look for the whimsical relationships between the two and sometimes incorporate them into utilitarian pieces. Over the last few years I have been focusing on wheel thrown and altered forms. Most recently I have been experimenting with zinc silicate crystalline glaze on porcelain vessel forms
