About the Artist

BFA, Sculpture - University of Alabama, 1971

MS, Art Ed. – CCSU, 1980

My work in clay is representative of my other sculptural work in various media. I continue to use themes from nature as a source of inspiration. I try to play on the similarities between man and animal. I look for the whimsical relationships between the two and sometimes incorporate them into utilitarian pieces. Over the last few years I have been focusing on wheel thrown and altered forms. Most recently I have been experimenting with zinc silicate crystalline glaze on porcelain vessel forms

I have been an artist and art instructor for over 35 years. I have taught mostly at the secondary level in public school in Connecticut but also at private school and as an adjunct professor at CCSU.

Since 1989 I have been a key member of Wesleyan Potters, Inc. in Middletown, Connecticut. I have served a term as president and remain on the board of directors. Wesleyan Potters is an artist collective of 100 juried members. I create and show my work there. I intend to continue to play in the mud at the pottery for the as long as I can.

Over the years I have exhibited mostly in Connecticut. I am represented in private collections in Connecticut and nationally. I continue to attend workshops of interest at the pottery and around the country. I have also traveled to Italy several times visiting some of the world’s best art and architecture.   I am also an avid gardener currently focusing on raising koi, two chocolate labs, a green wing macaw, rhododendrons, and day lilies.
